MONSTER BAG! -

So we got a couple "sandbaggers" from up North (Union City, TN) who totally destroyed the Largemouth out of Crow's Neck Landing on Bay Springs... with a 20+ pound bag, anchored by a 9+ pound Laremouth, Chuck Floyd and Jamie Byars had a day, and took the AOY lead after the first tournament of the season.

We had around 40 boats compete, in what was a dreary day tournament, but at least we didn't freeze, despite the overcast skies and cooler temps all day. It seemed that most anyone that had a good sack (assuming they were telling the truth!) stayed shallow, and hit points in the mouths of coves, with some type of wood cover (laydowns, stumps, etc.). Had I thought to keep doing what I started doing, we may have ended up in a better finishing position at weigh-in, but that is the best thing about fishing... it can humble the Hell out of you, but you are going to learn something, each and every time you get out on the water! We fulfilled our main goal, and that was to bring 5 fish to the scales...

Here was the top 6 breakdown:

Tournament #1 Results, Bay Springs Lake, February 25, 2018 40 Boats Participated

1st Place Chuck Floyd/Jamie Byars 23.79 lbs BigBass 9.41 2nd Place Jeff Gooch/Charles Gray 18.94 lbs 2nd BB 6.69 3rd Place Fisher Overton 16.90 lbs 4th Place Jeff & Josh Crook 15.72 lbs 5th Place Ryan Ryan McQuesten/Clint Beacham 15.19 lbs 6th Place Brad Smith/Jimmy Shebesh 14.12 lbs

We got some real "sticks" throwing down this year, so we will have to step our game up to not be left in the dust in the AOY race! Counting down the days to the Beech Lake Open on March 25th!
